Why a whip when jerked a hard sound ( small explosion ) is is heard?
Why does jet aircraft that runs at velocity over sound velocity cause hardest sound?
It can be explained as follows. If the aircraft runs at velocity over sound velocity, air before aircraft has not yet time to adapt with current line of aircraft so as if it collides the wall. This collision result in explosion sound. Similarly it occurs to a whip. If it moves faster than sound velocity, a whip ends as if pounds any wall so small explosion sound appears. If a whip is big, sound resulted is also big. The explosion sound occurs because any shock wave.
